Good Citizens

We were recently named one of Outside Magazine’s Best Places to Work - for the fifth time! Between the pooches and ping-pong tables, our California headquarters is more of a family-picnic-meets-think-tank than an office: Monthly Lunch & Learns are our grown up version of show-and-tell, rotating Fun Committees plan field trips around town and our CEO doubles as barista to make premium French press every Thursday. We’re lightening our environmental footprint as best we can by composting, we’re big on going paperless (but if we have to, we use 100% recycled paper products), we’ve converted to 100% LED light bulbs and purchase Renewable Energy Certificates to offset the energy we consume in our three Toad&Co locations. Every April we host our now famous Annual Grilled Cheese Smackdown with other small businesses in our community.

We’ve been lucky to call some great places home over the years – Telluride, Chicago, Portland, Freeport, Santa Barbara – so we do our part to be good neighbors everywhere you find the Toad. We can regularly be found cleaning creeks with the City of Santa Barbara Creeks Division, weeding at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, and joining other like-minded companies with the Backyard Collective for public land restoration. We’ve cleaned up an illegal gun range, pulled invasive species at Channel Islands National Park, planted native plants in the San Marcos Foothills Preserve, fixed up donated bikes at Bici Centro, volunteered at our Organic Soup Kitchen, spent Thanksgiving with the Boys and Girls Club, and donated clothing to various organizations throughout the year.

Speaking of the company you keep, Team Toad has no shortage of quality folks. Considerate, creative and always up for a good time, here are a few Toads that are leaders both in the office and the community: Kate, our Design Director, works with the Ventura Hillside Conservancy, a land trust dedicated to the conservation of public lands and public education about natural resources. Dustin, our IT manager, heads up the Autism Awareness group at a local elementary school, which implements improved special needs education curriculum in local public schools. And Lucinda, our Product Developer, collects recyclable paper and cardboard for local animal shelters that use the materials to keep homeless animals happy and healthy.
