Frequently Asked Questions

OEKO-TEX® recently updated their requirements to include certification of every material at the color level. While a good thing, it would be prohibitively expensive for a company of our size. We will continue to partner with OEKO-TEX® certified facilities, meaning our production partners are independently tested and verified for responsible chemical use and environmentally sound practices. Our commitment to safe, responsible manufacturing hasn't changed – just the label that could feasibly appear on the page. Learn more about our factory partners and strict code of conduct.

Through longstanding relationships with thoroughly vetted manufacturing partners, eco certifications, and a strict Code of Conduct that every partner must meet. Our production facilities are independently audited for wastewater treatment and worker safety. We source fabrics from mills that meet recognized standards for organic, recycled, and responsibly produced materials – so the standard of care is built into the entire supply chain. It means building clothes designed to last, and thinking carefully about every step of how they're made. We've been at this a long time, and that experience shows in the high standards we hold for sustainable materials: organic cotton, hemp, TENCEL™ Lyocell, recycled fibers, and more. From responsible sourcing through ethical manufacturing to end-of-life resale, it all connects back to the same commitment. Fewer things, made right, worn long, passed on. Dig deeper into our approach on our Sustainability page or see the numbers behind it in our Impact Report.

Yes. Every manufacturing partner is held to a strict Code of Conduct covering fair wages, safe working conditions, and environmental responsibility. We have a selective process when choosing partners, and maintain long-term relationships with them – some spanning over two decades – including regular in-person visits, resulting in deep accountability. Good people making great clothes.
