Why We Choose Recycled Fibers
Producing raw materials for clothes requires huge amounts of land, water, energy, and chemicals. By choosing recycled, the circularity loop is closed by re-utilizing fabrics like wool, cotton, and polyester – and materials like post-consumer plastic water bottles.
Recycled fibers are the gold standard of sustainability and darn durable, too. Every year, 12.8 million tons of textiles end up in landfills (hint: 1 ton = 2,000lbs – that’s a LOT of fabric). Recycled materials not only reduce landfill loads, but also avoid new material production while holding up to everyday wear and comfort. We call that a win-win-win!.
Where do our Recycled Fibers come from?
Recycled Cotton
\We re-utilize cotton fiber scraps and by-products that otherwise would be landfill-bound.
Recycled Polyester
Post-consumer plastic water bottles get turned into fibers through shredding, pelletizing, and spinning. It takes about 9 water bottles to make a t-shirt. There’s nothing like telling someone: “Thanks! It’s made from water bottles!”
Recycled Nylon
While virgin nylon is made from petroleum, the recycled version is made from pre-existing nylon products that have been melted and spun into yarn. Spoiler alert: Recycled has the same performance and durability!
